Charli Molander attended Summer School at the American College of Norway. In this blog post she tells you about her experience living in Moss – her favorite memories, her favorite cafe and why she believes ACN to be a great place to study abroad.
My whole life I had always wanted to study abroad. Studying in Norway was on the top of my list because my entire family is from there. When I was looking at programs, ACN caught my eye because of their different sessions. I chose the summer session, which is only four weeks, and was the perfect amount of time for me!
During my time at ACN I got to travel to three other countries. I went to Denmark, France, and England. The three day weekends allow students to make the most of their time in Europe, and the ACN staff encouraged us and helped us plan trips!
Moss is a super cute town that reminds me of home! One of my favorite things to do is hike on some of the trails in Moss to get a great view of the fjord! Moss also has amazing sunsets to watch! One of my favorite cafes in Moss is called Mood. They have the best pastries, sandwiches, and have the friendliest staff. Moss also has super cute stores to go shopping in!
The dorms in Moss were also great – we each had our own room and shared a bathroom and kitchen with one other person. It was awesome to live in the dorms because I got to know my classmates well and made connections and friendships with so many cool people around the United States!
One of my favorite memories is going in a sauna and jumping in the fjord outside of the Opera House. The short train ride to Oslo allowed my friends and I to explore the city quite a bit!
Choosing ACN was one of my best decisions! I will definitely be coming back to explore Norway some more and I will be sure to stop by ACN to say hi to the best faculty and staff ever!!!
