Can you believe it’s already mid-September? Time flies when you’re having fun! Read all about what we have been up to since the students arrived!
Can you believe it’s already mid-September? Time flies when you’re having fun! We were so excited to have the students arriving in August, and have since loved getting to know a great group of people.
We started off Welcome Week in mid-August, with fun activities for getting to know each other and introductions to life at ACN. We learned fun facts about each student, practiced everyone’s names and Krista showed us how to analyze the way we draw a pig – apparently you can read a lot into that! We also introduced the American students (and some Norwegians) to the local delicacy of ‘Pølse i Vaffel’, which translates to ‘hot dog in waffle’. It was a hit among the students, so don’t knock it until you try it!
Thursday was also the day for the traditional ACN Scavenger Hunt. This has always been a great way for students to get to know their new hometown, and the students had wonderfully sunny weather to accompany them on their hunt. In the end, it was team Triple A who came out victorious this year – having completed each task with creativity and resourcefulness! Congrats to team Triple A!
Welcome Week flew by, and we ended it on a high note (literally!) at Våler Aktivitetspark. This has also become a bit of an ACN tradition, and despite the suspicious weather forecast on Saturday – we all made our way out into the forest on Sunday. In Våler they have a ropes course, zipline and paintball. This allowed students to really challenge themselves, and it was so fun to see the students overcome their own fears, but also help and encourage each other! For dinner Krista prepared Sloppy Joe’s, which turned out to be the perfect dish to warm us up as the skies opened the minute we made it indoors. What luck!
After the weekend students were ready for the first week of classes. On Monday the students attended a session where all of the classes were introduced by the lecturers, and were also encouraged to attend all available classes during the first week to help them decide which classes they wanted to register for.
After registration, students have quickly settled into daily life at ACN. Classes, coursework and coffee, but also Mario Kart, hikes, traveling and afternoon swims! We love to see the students finding their home here in Moss, and are excited to see all the amazing things this semester will bring! Hint; Spirit Week is already just around the corner!
Are you interested in becoming a student at ACN? We still have spots available for the Spring 2023 semester, and it’s never too early to apply for the fall semester either! Apply HERE today!
