International Students
Students from various countries around the world make up about 5% of the student population. International students study in Norway to learn a new language and culture and to be closer to friends and family who live in Norway. International students typically study at ACN for one year (2 semesters).
After successfully completing one year at ACN students will have earned enough credits to transfer to an America university. International students interested in pursuing a university education in Norway after their time a the American College of Norway should contact us for more information.
International students must be self supporting; at this time there are no scholarship or support opportunities. To receive a visa to Norway international students must demonstrate their ability to pay for their education and living expenses while in Norway. To obtain a visa the Norwegian government requires you to have 149,000 Norwegian kroner (60,000 for tuition + 89,000 for living expenses) on hand to financially guarantee your time in Norway. Please contact us for more information on this. Application requirements when applying directly to ACN:
- A completed application form (download here)
- Higher Education Entrance Qualification for Norwegian Universities. All applicants must have completed these requirements prior to the start of the program
- All applicants are required to submit a personal essay answering this question: “Why am I interested in this educational opportunity?”
Students are encouraged to apply as early as possible before the start of the semester to allow time for their visa application to process. The application deadline is May 1 for fall semester, and October 1 for spring semester, though applications are reviewed all year if space is available.
